Making of a red fox fur blanket!

Do you have such red fox furs?

We can turn them into a nice blanket - such as below!

 Of course we can make fur coats, jackets and vests as well.

  We can also use marten´s or raccoon´s furs etc.

Below we show you - along general lines - how we make a fur blanket!

Cleaning

Before we start working with your furs, we clean them.

  This is a speacial cleaning procedure for furs.

We put the furs in a so called "läutertrommel". A Läutertrommel is some kind of a washing machine - but without water.

The furs spin around in a mixture of sawdust and cleanser for several hours.

With this cleaning method we remove all kinds of fat and dirt from the fur.

Removal of all damaged leather/fur parts

After cleaning the furs we check them for any defects!

After removing the defects we moisten the furs and pin them down in a square form.

After the furs have dried up we sort them according to colours.

These colour matching furs are again "uneven" - so that we have to pin them down again. Afterwards we join these furs by sewing them together.

Now the blanket is almost done - in terms of form!

Now we put a fixing fabric on the leather side. This makes sure the leather will not tear and wear.

Afterwards we cut the blanket into down to the size we actually need.

Before we put the lining on, we clean the blanket once again to remove loose hair from the steps beforehand!
