The Origin of our Furs: The OA-Label

Origin Assured

“[...] the programme gives assurance that the fur in a garment or fur product that bears an OA™ mark originates from a country where national or local regulations or standards governing fur production are in force.”
- Origin Assured

There are some essential principles our company enforces when it comes to our products:

  1. We want you to know where our furs come from

  2. We want openness and transparency with regards to the production of our furs

  3. We want to be assured on the humane treatment of animals

Those three principles are the cornerstones of the Origin Assured program. In 2006 Origin Assured was initiated by the International Fur Trade Federation (IFTF) to create more transparency in terms of the origin of fur. It is to mention that only a limited number of carefully selected and certified auction houses sell fur carrying the OA™ label. As yet, four of the world’s most influential auction houses are involved: American Legend Cooperative, Saga Furs, Kopenhagen Fur and North American Fur Auctions (NAFA). A recent publication listed Fun Harvesters Auction as a future member.

To make sure the program’s centrepieces are being enforced as they should, independent monitoring is practiced by Cotecna, a firm involved in overseeing the quality and quantity of fur sold.

  • Interesting approach

The OA label seems like a good idea.
Great to see that the fur industry actually cares about stuff like this.

  • Still wondering..

Well, thanks for sharing this with the public.
Still, I am a little critical...
Where does your fur ACTUALLY come from? Like, what countries - China?

  • @Charles T.

    Hello Charles,
thanks for asking. A large portion of our material comes from Europe, especially from Finland and Denmark. Another significant amount we obtain from North America. We do not have any item in store that is of Asian origin (e.g. from China or Korea), as the keeping of animals in the countries concerned is not ethically acceptable (read more:
