Fur Care & Storage
A fur does not feel comfortable in a crowded wardrobe!
In the summer, a fur can also become warm. Just like humans, fur can "sweat" in the summer, especially when stored in a crowded and warm wardrobe. High temperatures can cause the leather, in which the hair is rooted, to dry out. This can lead to hair loss. Therefore, it is important to ensure proper and cool storage of fur, especially during the warm months of the year. It is generally important to hang your fur on a wide hanger in a loose manner. Please make sure not to store your fur near heat sources such as stoves or radiators. To maintain a good climate for fur, it needs to be stored in a loose, cool environment with appropriate humidity. It is also recommended to use a dust cover. Often, your bedroom is the best place for fur storage. Additionally, the fur should not be exposed to direct sunlight during storage, as it can cause the hair color to fade. For fur storage, linen or muslin (old bed sheets work well) can be used. Plastic should never be used for fur storage, as it can negatively affect the fur by depriving it of air. Proper storage like this will contribute to the longevity of your fur's quality."
Care instructions - Real Fur Products
1. Care instructions for real fur products
Our fur products are made from very high quality, natural materials. This makes our fur products durable and easy to handle. For your real fur products to retain their attractiveness and naturalness, you will find below helpful tips for proper care and storage.
2. Cleaning recommendations
In order to preserve the representative character of your fur products, it is important to regularly remove dirt, dust and stains as a cleaning and value preservation measure for your real fur. Depending on the intensity of use, the interval of an intensive cleaning varies. In general, however, cleaning measures should not be exaggerated. For normal use of your real fur product, the rule is "less is more".
3. Dirt and dust removal
Regular shaking off your real fur products ensures a fluffy appearance.
4. Stain removal
It is essential to remove every stain as soon as possible and not allow it to dry. Loose dirt can be sucked off, and liquids carefully dabbed with absorbent cloths. The stains should always be taken from the edge to the centre of the stain and not triturated in the fur. To remove stains, always use "gentle" detergents (for example, regular hair shampoo dissolved in warm water) in combination with a suitable microfiber cloth or similar materials. Conventional household cleaners or detergents are not suitable for cleaning. A large-area moisture penetration of the fur product is to be avoided under all circumstances. Dry the cleaned areas with the hair upwards. After drying, the "gently" cleaned area can be treated with a comb or a brush.
5. Intensive cleaning
Depending on the degree of pollution, an intensive cleaning of the fur will be required at certain intervals. For this, your real fur product must be in the special fur cleaning. The intensive cleaning should only be carried out by a master furrier (professional company) in the refining process.
6. Protection against UV radiation
Natural fur products can fade from sunlight, and the UV radiation contained therein, or slightly changes their color (similar to furniture, wood floors, and textiles). The use of special glass (laminated glass) with UV film also extends the time until the color change occurs.
7. Storage
Fur blankets and furs rugs should be stored "loose". That means not be stored in boxes or similar packaging, otherwise difficult to remove displacements arises in the fur. Ideally, furs will be kept in an open, cold, dry and dark place. Genuine fur needs air to breathe, so they must not be stored in plastic packaging under any circumstances. The optimum storage temperature for furs is about 13-15 degrees Celsius. The humidity should not exceed 40%, optimally 35% to 40%. As furs are high quality and expensive products care and cleaning should be handled with care. Feel free to contact us if you have questions about care or storage.
